Mathematical Support

Mathematical Support to Business, Industry, the Public Sector and the Third Sector

Where industry, business, the public sector or third sector has an identified challenge/problem that would benefit from mathematical input, such as physical modelling, statistics, data analysis etc., the Newton Gateway is able to help facilitate this, by putting the organisation in contact with relevant individuals or teams from the mathematical sciences community who will undertake a scoping and triaging process.

Organisations should submit an online request for brokerage and the Gateway will endeavour to make the relevant introduction(s) as soon as possible. These initial details will be shared with a small number of academic representatives from universities across the UK, to enable relevant introductions to be made.

Please note: at this initial stage you should only submit high level details of the challenge that you are trying to address. You should NOT submit details of activity or data that you would consider as sensitive and that you would wish to be covered by a non-disclosure agreement. Once the brokerage has been made, it is then the responsibility of your organisation and the relevant academic(s) and their host university to agree an appropriate way to take any activity forward.

This broker service is provided free of charge by the Newton Gateway to Mathematics, but it should be noted that there could be a charge by the academics(s) to help address the challenge once initial discussions have taken place. Funding may be available for certain types of follow-on activity, if deemed appropriate.

The Newton Gateway will aim to acknowledge your submission within 2 working days. If you have any specific questions, please contact the Gateway.
